Hold on to what you love: We are Deathgrip Racing, based out of Kelowna BC Canada, the heart of mountain biking country and this is our team introduction video from Virtu Media:
At Deathgrip Racing we have assembled a team of riders to help bring our goals and dreams to reality. As a team, our main goals for the 2012 season are to finish in the top 10 in all our classes on the BC Cup circuit and consistently improve and compete at our full potential. With the help of our sponsors, friends, and supporters we aim to accomplish them in a positive and professional manner, while having fun too!
We are a diverse group, full of character, experience, and youthful enthusiasm. Our team is a mix of young local talent as well as some skilled and accomplished veterans. Our passion for mountain biking has enabled us to live a life we only dreamed of as kids.
When asked why he established Deathgrip Racing, Team Manager Rob Cochrane explained that since coming back into the downhill side of the sport nearly a decade ago, he had recognized a lack of established race teams in the province of BC. Unlike Eastern Canada and Europe, there is a lack of racing infrastructure in the West of Canada. Rob has 25+ years of cycling experience in BMX, cross country, freeride, and downhill riding with many industry contacts formed over the years. It is his visions and sense of wanting to help young riders and ambitious veterans fulfil their dreams that drove him to form the team during late 2011.
Armed with an impressive sponsorship package, Deathgrip is going full tilt into the new season with an intensive health and training program for the team riders. The BC Cup race season starts aggressively with Race The Ranch (Kamloops), Bear Mountain (Mission), Sun Peaks (Kamloops), Silver Star (Vernon), Panorama (Invermere), Mount Washington (Vancouver Island) and Hemlock (Chilliwack). The team is also entering the Canada Cup at Panorama (invermere), the Western Open at Kicking Horse (Golden), the Canadian Open DH, Garbonzo Downhill, and Jeep Air Downhill events.
For 2012, Deathgrip has partnered with Virtu Media who will be documenting the team's travels throughout the year and will be producing one video for each event and a lifestyle wrap up video.
